How does the sublimation process work? The art of sublimation is a fascinating process that fuses ink with the substrate material to leave a lasting, colorfast image that you can enjoy for years. When heated, the ink turns into a gas and passes through the porous layers of the substrate. As the item cools, the ink solidifies beneath the surface, retaining the pressed image. With sublimation, the colors remain true throughout many washings, and will not peel or fade.
